Primary Program
3 to 6 Early Childhood
At Harmony Day School, we encourage children to explore and independently choose activities that interest them. As natural maturation takes place, students learn to manage their time. The Montessori 3-6 early childhood classroom is the foundation class for all future learning. It is a curriculum that provides vast experiences that build upon one another over the course of 3 continuous school years.
Materials are precisely made and are arranged on low shelves from left to right and top to bottom—an indirect preparation of the eyes for reading and writing. Not only will you find materials to teach language, mathematics and penmanship, but also materials to provide early experiences in Botany, Zoology, Geography and Environmental Conservation.
Montessori education is uniquely tailored for each individual child. Lessons are planned based upon the child’s level of readiness, needs and specific interests. All primary students attend class 5 days per week. A ratio of 10 students to 1 adult, or less is maintained at all times.

Toddler Program
The toddler classroom offers children 18 months through 3 years of age a unique beginning of self-development in a warm atmosphere of special understanding, and support. The experienced teaching staff fulfills the social, physical, emotional, developmental, and psychological needs of each child. Our toddler program adheres to Montessori philosophy that encourages vocabulary development, independence, and self-confidence.
Practical life activities are simple and can be accomplished by each child. They offer repetitive cycles that help the child establish patterns of order and sequencing – even at an early age. Being that the classroom contains very real and specifically purposeful lessons, each child becomes grounded in reality, builds his confidence and gains self-esteem through his success with these early age-appropriate activities.
In this classroom, there is space for movement, individual work, and group activities. Everything in the environment is in proportion to the child’s size and is designed to be safe and aesthetically pleasing. The toddler classroom offers an inviting extension—a “doorway”— between the child’s home and entrance into the future primary classroom. Harmony Day School offers a 3-Day , 4-Day, or 5-Day Programs for toddlers. A ratio of 6 students to 1 adult, or fewer, is maintained at all times.
